The Benchmark for Performance
I believe in setting my standards high. You will see the quality of what your child is doing by examining their notebook and assessments. However, I am aware of the research about different learning styles so I make certain that students hear and "experience" the topics being discussed on their level. Challenges as well as accommodations are provide to make certain that ALL students are passing the benchmarks set forth by the state.

Science Inquiry and Investigation
In keeping with what I have learned through real world Science experiences, I am a firm believer in keeping good notes as you learn about different topics in Science. Should you want to know what kind of progress your student is making, simply ask for their Science notebook. I have a time set aside in each class for students to update their notebook.

My name is Jean Noland and I am a Pickens County native. I have been in the educational field for 27 years in different grades all in the elementary field. Now I am teaching the subject that is near and dear to my heart..Science. I am constantly trying to enrich my knowledge of Science by taking advantage of educational opportunities and bring this knowlege back to my students. I was selected to travel with Earth Watch to the Australian Rainforest. Here we studied endangered birds and marsupials. I am also a scuba diver. By diving in different parts of Germany, Italy, Australia, and the Caribbean, I have gained a wealth of knowledge that I am able to pass on to my students.
